Lizzie Ratner NP, APRN

Lizzie Ratner grew up in Camden, South Carolina, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University, where she was also a member of the Rally Cat dance team. After graduating, she began her nursing career at Prisma Health’s Greenville Memorial Hospital (formerly Greenville Health System), working in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. During her two years in the Medical ICU, Lizzie gained invaluable experience caring for the most critically ill patients in the hospital.
She later transitioned to the Inpatient Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) while concurrently pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of South Carolina. Upon graduating, Lizzie became certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) and joined Carolina Cardiology, where she provided care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Lizzie then advanced her career by joining a cardiothoracic surgery team at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. After several years in acute and surgical care, she took time away from clinical practice to focus on raising her and Dr. Ratner’s three children—Rosie, Mary Margaret, and Jack. Now, Lizzie is thrilled to return to medicine to help run American Orthopedics.
DArci Wrice MS, ATC

Darci Wrice grew up in Toledo, Ohio, and earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology from Ohio University, where she developed a strong foundation in human performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Biomechanics at the University of Toledo, deepening her understanding of movement science and advanced orthopedic principles.
Following her graduate studies, Darci began her career working in a dynamic physical therapy clinic while also serving as a field athletic trainer for a local high school. She later joined the Steadman Hawkins Clinic, where she spent 13 years as a primary assistant, gaining extensive experience in orthopedic and sports medicine care.
Outside of work, Darci enjoys spending time with her husband, their two young boys, and their sweet boxer dog. She is excited to bring her knowledge, experience and passion for patient-centered care to American Orthopedics.
Mallory Stone, BSN, RN

Mallory grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from the University of South Carolina. After college, she spent time living and working in Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee before returning home to the Upstate to pursue her passion for healthcare.
She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of South Carolina Upstate, gaining valuable experience caring for pediatric patients at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital of the Upstate, including her capstone project in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Outside of work, Mallory enjoys spending time with her daughter, running, and going to the beach. She is excited to bring compassion, energy, and optimism to caring for patients at American Orthopedics.
Heath Major MS, ATC

Heath grew up in Anderson, SC and earned his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Erskine College.
He went on to earn a master’s degree in Advanced Athletic Training from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. After earning his master’s degree, Heath went on to work as an athletic trainer with a local high school and later transitioned to Head Athletic Trainer at Erskine College.
After working in the collegiate setting, he worked with Dr. Ratner at Blue Ridge Orthopedics in Easley until coming to American Orthopedics.
Outside of the office, Heath enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, running, and watching Manchester United. Heath is excited to continue to care for patients with Dr. Ratner at American Orthopedics.
Theresa Calk RN, BSN

Theresa Calk grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, and attended Clemson University on a field hockey scholarship while earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
After graduation, Theresa married and moved to Camden, South Carolina. She began her nursing career in the Intensive Care Unit at Richland Memorial Hospital before transitioning to MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center, where she worked in both the ICU and Emergency Room.
Following many years in acute care, Theresa developed a passion for supporting patients in their own homes and transitioned into Home Health, where she has dedicated the past 20 years of her career. For the last decade, she has been certified in wound care, bringing specialized expertise for treating complex wounds.
Three years ago, Theresa relocated to the Upstate to be closer to their four children and five grandchildren. Theresa continues to practice part-time with Bayada Home Health and is excited to support her son-in-law, Dr. Ratner, at American Orthopedics.
