About Drew Ratner, MD

Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Drew Ratner, a Dallas native and former Division I soccer captain, attended Northwestern University on an athletic scholarship. He was a three-year starter, two-year captain, and helped lead the team to two NCAA Elite Eight appearances.

Dr. Ratner earned his MD from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and simultaneously completed an MBA in Health Organization Management. Dr. Ratner then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Greenville Health System, where he trained in trauma at a Level I center and joint replacement at a total joint center of excellence. He also received sports medicine training in arthroscopic surgery at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas and Blue Ridge Orthopedics.

He went on to complete a prestigious sports medicine fellowship at the UC Health Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Denver, where he served as assistant team physician for the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. There, Dr. Ratner gained advanced training in arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery.

Dr. Ratner has been in practice for 6 years. He spent his first two years of practice in Dallas, Texas working for a group called Texas Bone and Joint which serviced many of the local HCA hospitals. He then moved to the Upstate in 2021 and took a job with Prismal Health.

Dr. Ratner specializes in complex sports medicine injuries, advanced arthroscopic shoulder and knee procedures, anterior hip replacements, shoulder replacements, and robotic-assisted knee replacements.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ratner enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, road biking and endurance athletics, He’s completed several half Ironman races and ran the 2012 Boston Marathon. He enjoys spending time at home with his wife, Lizzie (a nurse practitioner), their three children—Rosie, Mary Margaret, and Jack.
